I've not read the books but enjoyed the 2 movies (2023).

Well, I watched it to the end. The actors and special effects were pretty good but using Operation Overlord (one of the most important operations ever) where so many brave people lost their lives was pretty cheap and disrespectful in my view. But I suppose if you need a cheap way of cashing in on something then why not piggy back on a real story.
