I never post reviews on films because usually, I am an absolute enthusiast when it comes to this form of art. What brought me to Midsommar? The promise of visual beauty and exploration of complex emotions. What is making me write this review? The fact that I will never get those 2-hours-40+ minutes back in my life. Vomiting one's neuroses on the screen and wrapping them in beauty is not art. It is madness and disrespect for your spectators (or guests) to the least. A lot of people are doing that nowadays, manipulating people with beauty. Beauty was not necessary here. At least, The Texas Chain Saw Massacre is honest. It is just a butchery. It does not pretend to be something else.
