Beautiful, fresh, heartwarming and sensitive.
Gervais’ After Life follows Tony, a man who has lost his wife to cancer. I was aware this was the main plot to the series and was concerned that the series would just be morbid and depressing.
How wrong my assumption was.
This series balances the horror of bereavement and comedy in a bright and uplifting way. I have never watched something that has made me laugh hysterically and cry my eyes out also.
After Life sends a strong and powerful message of adapting to situations. Tony slowly begins to care again, but this process is not rushed or simple in anyway, Gervais left me hooked to the screen and wanting more.
I would argue this is some of Gervais’ best work, and I’m excited to see what Season 2 will have to offer but my standards are very high after the success of Season 1.
I highly recommend you watch this.
