"Keep the Change" is a movie for those of us who are siblings, parents, cousins and friends who understand the journey of those with disabilities. The atmosphere created in this movie couldn't have been more realistic. The true expressions of David and Sarah and the JCC group with whom they shared their friendships with... so moving because that is their life - raw, not more complicated than anyone else's life!
Do they have a bad life? No... because there is love and real life situations, such as attitudes, opinions, support, professional assistance, families with issues who care for the ones who have the disabilities. First time experiences and awkwardness. The critical judgement of David's mother but what great support from David's cousin. David learned being judgmental from his mother but he stood up to her because he knew what he wanted and his mother didn't trust him nor encourage him.
There is a friendship between David and Sarah and it's their journey to live and love with the hurt and joys of their relationship - not understanding but trying and knowing that they have each other experiencing a wonderful life together supporting each other to get to their dreams.
I cannot say enough about this movie. It should be shown in schools across the nation to show compassion and not be judgmental against those who are different.
We live in a fallen world and none of us are perfect... but boy this movie is for those who don't quit!
I truly enjoyed it!
