I've never really been into the Battle Royale genre. I always hated the fact that you spend 20 minutes looting only to be sniped from halfway across the map. The slow and boring style of BR's has never really interested me. I've tried BR's like apex and warzone, but none of them had that fast-paced, action-packed gameplay I'm looking for. Spellbreak, however, has broken my stigma against battle royales is fast paced and different from any other BR I've seen so far. Getting into a match is fast, finding other people to fight is fast, and just the game overall is extremely quick, so I don't have to spend hours in a single match. The fact that you already spawn in with a very good weapon is great and means that you can get into a fight almost instantly. The runes are satisfying and fun to mess around with, the gauntlets are fun, and the movement is amazing. While in most BR's, people spend hours hiding in a bush waiting for someone to cross, the most fun AND the most effective way to play is to use the extremely satisfying movement to gain an edge in fights or to just have fun. And, as if this wasn't already enough, the spell combinations, gauntlets upgrading as you progress through the game, and the talent system are all icing on the cake. This game does come with some problems, but not enough to change my mind about this being a 5 star game. First of all, the game is littered with bots, which would be fine with me if there weren't only 40 players in a each game. This means that a pretty large percentage of the people you come across are bots. Even this would be fine if the bots actually acted like real players, but they just stand there and on a rare occasion, decide to throw a spell or sorcery at you. This isn't too much of a problem because I know that as this game gets more popular (which it most likely will), these bots will hopefully be phased out in place of more players and most importantly, real ones. Another slight problem is the sound in this game. Sometimes the sounds are extremely annoying and unpredictable. For example, when you land on the ground as Tempest, you make this annoying and loud sound. Sometimes, I just hear this loud roar (which isn't the wolf's blood roar, but that's also annoying) after looting an enemy squad. I look around and I see no one there. Then other times, enemies will start throwing spells at me without me even hearing them. This is also a problem that can be fixed easily, and doesn't at all detract from this 5-star review.
