This may sound like nonsense today but, I am truly convinced this is an attempt to make people think a bit more friendly towards AI. Just to be clear, I absolutely love Tom Hanks in pretty much every movie he has ever been in.
Once the basics of the plot were revealed, it was completely predictable. Tom Hanks is probably the only actor that could make this a movie in a way that felt human.
In all other ways, this movie was not human. It is undoubtedly a way to convince humans that as long as we "program" AI with the right directives, (mentioned in many other stories) that we will be safe from their "thinking". Hell, it seems written by robots.
This is not a story written by normal people, this seemed more than forced by a particular narrative. Please do better Tom, we aren't all willing to be manipulated. Almost everything you have done before is neutral, that is what keeps you as the Dad of America.
I'm not trying to hate in any way. This just had so much more potential than fear mongering and manipulation.
