This would make a great stand alone film or maybe an even better addition to the Harry Potter universe but it certainly doesn't live up to The Shining whatsoever. Ewan McGregor was brilliant as were a lot of his co-stars but this was more magical than it was scary. The cgi reminded me of TV shows like Wynonna Earp rather than the revisiting of one of Stanley Kubrick's masterpieces.
