I can't remember the last time I gave a series 5 stars. I was sorely tempted to give this one a top ranking. I loved every minute of it and I can't fault the direction it goes in. As the years pass the times will inevitably change. The hotel loses lightness and innocence as the characters confront war and a changing political landscape. I don't want to give anything away so... my advice to you is to watch this lovely series and take a break from Nordic Noir, Dark Fantasy, Thrillers or whatever your genre, sit back put your feet up and binge out...

Cherrie Kong, you have said it all remarkably well. I have nothing to add, except it was a waste of my time trying to plough through it. Please be warned all you would-be viewers - don't bother.

OK... I must admit that it took me a while to get into this series but... I did and now I really miss not watching it. I was put off by Camille, Nieman's assistant, she was too brash, too annoying and had her hair cut short (I have this thing about men and women with short hair!). Anyway, I persevered and now I think that it is one of the best noir TV crime series I have watched. The subject matter is interesting and the cultural mores at the different places they visit are fascinating. I still find the way that Camille is played annoying, but I see how this helps in the partnership that develops between her and Niemans - a sort of father/daughter relationship with sexual undertones.

I want more - this series was so watchable with the right amount of 'noir' mixed in with the supernatural. The premise is a great choice - psychometry and a family broken apart with tragedy, coming together years later to try to make sense of the violence that had descended on their lives! Wouldn't we all want to have the power to see beneath the mask and know when someone is lying and the secrets they hide deep down in their soul? The only problem is the forensic side of things, if I was the officer in charge, there is no way I would let someone go around touching things that have not been bagged, tagged and analyzed first, but I suppose you have to have some licence in order for our hero to do his thing. I have watched a lot of ScandiNoir lately so this series makes a change from my norm and I can't help loving the accents - the beautiful. hypnotic and very sexy French language (I think so, anyway!).
