Aldous Huxley’s Brave New World is a novel that excels on many levels. It, however, excels mostly due to Huxley’s proficient writing. His modern style is fresh and sharp, and he is a very good storyteller. Furthermore, unlike many other works of the genre, Huxley creates characters that are actually interesting and not just one dimensional plot devices. Bernard, for example, is rather complex and eerily relatable. The book is also nicely satirical, striking good balances between emotion and composure, and all while never coming across too pessimistic. Again, I believe this can be attributed to his excellent writing ability.
