I thoroughly enjoyed this K-dramaโthe cliffhangers at the end of each episode, the exciting and natural chemistry between the leads, and even the comical moments kept me engaged throughout.
While no drama is perfect (yes, it has some plot holes), I still consider it a must-watch because of its fast-paced scenes and captivating storytelling.
I went in with no expectations, deciding to give it a try after seeing it trending on Facebook reels. Episode one had me hooked immediately. Like most great K-dramas, it started with a bang to ensure viewers stayed glued to their screens.
I really enjoyed this series because I love fast-paced storylines; I tend to lose interest in slow-paced dramas. This one kept me entertained and engaged the entire time.
The ending, for me, was extremely satisfying. While there were flawsโlike the lack of explanation surrounding the Argan arc, which left some viewers confused (and, admittedly, made me wonder, "Why is this turning into an action movie now? Haha!")โI chose to focus on enjoying the show rather than critiquing it too harshly. After all, no drama is perfect in my book.
The love scene was perfect. Since the leads portrayed a married couple, the scene felt expected and realistic, as it beautifully captured their emotions and the culmination of their repressed desires and longing for each other (as previously seen in Heejo's imagination before, lol) It was a fitting redemption for the anticipation built throughout the series. The scene was beautifully choreographed --passionate yet sweet, not overly graphic but just right. The slow-motion effects and soft, romantic hues added an emotional depth that perfectly complemented the story.
The happy ending was well-deserved and wrapped up the story beautifully, giving closure to each characterโs journey.
What I learned from #WhenthePhoneRings is:
a) Forgiveness is essential because life, our loved ones, and even ourselves are not perfect.
b) Accepting your spouseโs imperfections is crucial because everyone has flaws.
c) We should know when to fight for love.
d) Communication is keyโnever hold back, and always be honest from the start.
