This allows the person who has never studied sermons to understand what the book is saying, and effectively get into the right mindset for delivery of sermons. While many scholarly books have hard to understand language, this book is relatively easy to understand and digest, which is good for any person starting on the path of preaching.
This book does not give a step-by-step instruction to preaching sermons, nor does it tell you how to prepare a sermon. This book gives the fundamentals on how to effectively be ready to preach. This book teaches the fundamental elements to preaching, on what to do and what not to do. This allows for a more effective delivery of God’s word to the congregation, and a better understanding of what you are preaching, without getting lost in stories, or distractions.
The author’s purpose is to communicate an effective guide for the basics of preaching. This book effectively does that, with easy-to-understand dos and don’ts. While there are many books wrote on the creation of a sermon, this book goes into the delivery methods. This allows the reader a deeper understanding of how to deliver the Word of God.
The uniqueness of this book is evident once read. The elements of preaching are broken down and easily conveyed in a logical, well thought out order. The book moved seamlessly from point to the next point, in a true sense of informative storytelling. This allowed for an easy reading of the text.
While not bowing down to any one denomination of Christianity, or any liberal or conservative school of thought, the book focuses on just simple points. This should be a required reading for anyone attending seminary school, or any student studying preaching, or evangelism. The information in this book could also help many seasoned preachers to fine tune their delivery as well. Any preacher should have this book on their bookshelf, close at hand.
