The book “waiting for a visa’’ it is written by a national treasure Dr. Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar and published in 1936 it is a short autobiographical book of only 20 pages.It is the one of only book by an Indian author to be used as a text book in a unversity like columbia university.
The book is a masterpiece by Indian author Dr. bhimrao Ambedkar who was a social reformer, politician, jurist, economist and also awarded by Bharat Ratna in 1990.Ambedkar was the one of the most learned person of his time.He was graduated from Columbia university and he done his post graduation from London school of Economics.He wrote many books in his entire life even the great constitution of India is also drafted by him.
waiting for a visa is a autobiographical book which deals with the superstitious society of early India and the suffering and struggle of the author in the suffocating society.The author came from a lower class , he was considered as untouchable and he does not have any right to education due to which it was very difficult for him to survive ,thus he suffers his entire life
The book is divided into six sections and each sections contains a horrific incidence of author’s life.The book explore the issue of untouchability and discriminative behaviour of people to their own countrymen the book give a social message to the conservative people of contemporary society
The language and writing style of the author is very simple and basic in this book ,thus it can be easily understand and directly touches the chord of reader’s heart
I like to read this delightful book and I have learned a lot from this book it give me a lesson to motivate me to do hard work as done by the author in adverse and critical situations. I want to recommend this book to those who are willing to achieve their goals even in harsh conditions and I thought every student should have to go through it.
