Rotten Tomatoes gets a rotten tomato with is 31% because this movie is great! Samuel Jackson is off the chain funny as John Shaft and the interaction between him and his son (Jessie Usher) is fantastic on many different levels. As I was watching it, at first I was thinking it was shallow and trite. But after about 15 minutes in I realized I was getting reeled in, that there was a lot more to the characters and the story than it first appeared, and after that I stayed hooked until the very end!
