A highly outrageous and untrue depiction of India. The movie is basically what Non-resident Indians believe India to be like. At one point, the protagonist, wonders why he was 'living like an animal' which very clearly tells what the director thinks about India. But, this is what happens when a director, who has never lived in India in his life tries to make a film about it. Let me provide various examples of how wrong the movie is about India:
1. The protagonist informs how in India the servants are shot dead if they try to steal. I burst out laughing at this. The makers got the country wrong here! This is so not true, and such a depiction is outrageous. But, I don't blame the director; I guess he probably grew up witnessing such violence in his country, and shamefully and ignorantly extrapolated it to India. The relation between employers and house helpers is very cordial and friendly in India. Nobody is treated with such disrespect, as shown in the movie. The behavior shown in the movie, if happens, becomes a news.
2. The protagonist finds out about dental hygiene through his employers and wonders why nobody ever told him to clean his teeth during childhood. I have to say, I lost any hope of makers having done any research about India before making this movie. For the unversed, the habit of cleaning teeth in India is pretty ancient. Even when toothbrushes, etc were not invented, people used 'datun' to clean their teeth. Absolutely everybody in India has a basic minimum cleanliness and knows basic hygiene, completely opposite to what director has tried to portray.
I do not recommend this movie to anyone who thinks this movie will provide them any cultural introduction to India. The movie shows a place from director's imagination which he has decided to sell to the viewers as 'India'.
