Well, not gonna lie, if you want a heartbreaking, memorable, heartwarming, funny production to view, Rent has it all, and more. Though, one of my critques is that it is merely just song and dance. The characters are memorable, but they are not fully explained or drawn out enough, which makes them sort of one dimensional. Also, there are many things that are not fully explained and don't make sense without a change in the context or phrase. However, this is very much halted by the fast pace of the movie, the characters, and the setting. Yet, once again, the pacing is horrifically fast and, if you don't appreciate the music, may wear you out. This is why all of the character conclusions, situational details and plot points HAVE to be seen during song numbers. But, the reason this movie was such a WONDERFUL piece for me is because of the deep message inside of it, and how it's not afraid to grasp at points most movies don't even touch. Plus, these singers' voices are amazing. Their mantained energy and emotion is so great that it may not come to you that they're even acting at all! Point is, it doesn't sound rehearsed or droned at anytime. So, overall, you should totally watch it!
