I was quite shocked at the price of $40 NZ for the Mulan movie & then to find out that you actually have to join up to Disney+ first.
I followed all the mixed bag of reviews & decided to watch & decide for myself even though I was apprehensive about the price.
The Cinematography was just so beautiful & therefore a shame that it won't be on the big screen at theatres in NZ to be appreciated.
The colours & costumes were just fantastic & brilliant to look at.
The storyline was okay but is a pity that the characters weren't built on a bit more. I think maybe 10-15 more minutes required as the 115 minutes went by so fast.
Hmm, I'm not sure about the editing in some places as it didn't make sense i.e. cutting from one scene to another quite suddenly. Again I think more time was required.
I liked the fight scenes & stunt work which was cool to look at so great job with the choreography.
I think if this movie was at theatres on the big screen it probably would have got 3.5 stars as the cinematography would have been fully appreciated.
My14-year-old son & I enjoyed the movie & agreed on a rating of 3/5 stars. So it is worth watching despite all the many negative comments about this latest version of Muan.
I intend to watch 'Mulan' again so my rating could change.
19/09/20 I have now watched Mulan a further 2 times & have enjoyed even more than the first time I watched the movie.
My favourite parts of the movie are still the fight sequences & when the soldiers are at camp learning how to fight.
If this movie was ever to be screened at theatres I would pay to see it so as to appreciate the beautiful & stunning scenery.
I've now changed my rating from 3 to 4 stars as well!
