This show is awful and is full of lazy writing. Anyone with half a brain and was partially paying attention during previous Trek shows can tell this is not the Federation. It is completely opposite of it. The writers have literally taken a big fat steaming dump on Gene Roddenberry's legacy. The writers have basically replaced the name "United Federation of Planets" with "The United States of America" and the show is about immigration and racism in America in 2020. The Fox News Network is in there too and I am waiting to see who Donald Trump is going to be. Patrick Stewart if you are reading this please leave your politics out of Star Trek and return it to what it used to be about. Fire your hipster/soy boy/SJW writers and get Rick Berman or Ron Moore back on board if you can.
