This is NOT a review of our book here but a criticism of the paragraph presenting it: "populist propaganda attacking knowledge as 'fake news'" is itself a propaganda statement, as 'FAKE NEWS' is a term NOT attacking knowledge but ATTACKING FAKE NEWS AND FAKE KNOWLEDGE.
Our news and media have been under the control of a few corporations and their political representatives (regimes) ever since they have become "embedded" with them - a term coined during the Iraq War to, correctly, describe the manipulations put in place to prevent a repeat of the 'Press Revelation of Truth', as in the Vietnam War.
There had been similar dark ages of "Fake News" etc. before, as in the German Reich, not only under Hitler, but Herr Goebbels appears to have been the paramount teacher of our post WWII 'Disinformation World'. We have been suffering from these tricks and fakes far too long, and only on rare (and very brave) occasions, such as My Lai and Abu Ghraib have we, thanks to a few brave real journalists, come to see the real news and horror of our so called "Free World" politicks.
So, don't smear the good critical term "Fake News" with fake political polemics, only because a US President whom you dislike said them more often than others. Better admit that (even) Mr. Trump was right, at times.
(my star rating above is random, as I am not reviewing the book. It does, however, sound very interesting and worth reading)
