I didn't expect much of this after I looked at the ratings. But then it's been directed by Emmerich, so I thought that may be it's actually not that bad. After all the dude shot The Day After Tomorrow. Boy... This is an absolute train wreck of a film. The visuals are the only thing that is at best mildly acceptable. The rest is simply abominable. The progression of the story, however generic it is, is just plain idiotic, because characters make unreasonable decisions right and left, right from the start. Dialogs are cheesy. Scenes are cringey. Acting is short of actors not looking straight into cameras atrocious. Riddled with childish humor. And it all kinda fits together very well when you think about it, doesn't it? These all are the hallmarks of a modern "sci-fi" movie. But this is the world we live in now. Disney has dropped the bar of the quality of contemporary film so deep that nobody has to actually try to make anything good no more.
