Pretzel Punch

I have never really been a superman fan. I always thought he was a bit boring and previous iterations didn’t present him in a way where I felt I should care. This film has made me love superman. The dialogue felt funny and realistic between characters in more chill scenes, I definitely felt like I was watching in on real people going through these struggles. However crazy the scenario, I felt it was real. I laughed and cried at numerous points in the film, finishing with tears streaming down my face to be suddenly met with a big smile. This happened a few times… Superman as a character has really been cemented for me in David Corenswet’s iteration, his costume looks great and he feels fun. Having watched a lot of the DC animated movies this felt so good to see the DC universe shown right. I loved how we weren’t shoved into an origin story but instead right into the action. Lex Luther was amazing as a character too. I really felt like the source material that makes me love the DCU more than Marvel was really shown throughout the film and it was brilliant. Overall this film felt fun, the cinematography was amazing as always with Gunn, the characters felt like they were ripped from the comics, relationships on screen felt so real, and the action was fun, fast paced but also not too difficult to keep up with. This is now one of my top ten favourite films for the first time with live action DC films. I really look forwards to a future with this universe, I want to see these characters grow.

I’ve been watching films for a VERY long time (at least three years). So i have gathered quite the expertise with films. HOWEVER, I cannot say I have ever left the cinema speechless before until I watched Barbie. I left the theatre a new man. As a man, i related to the struggles of Ken (both of us are very handsome, strong males in society but we know our place). But as a feminist this movie also stood true as relatable and also entertaining exploring these themes of womanhood, independence and what it means to be a MAN! One of the best films I have ever seen, it is not just watched… IT IS EXPERIENCED! I laughed, I chuckled, I giggled. It pulled on my heart strings, I shed two tears (I am a strong man and therefore saved my weeping like a baby until after I left the cinema). It was alright. Nothing to complain about. I never understood the attraction to Ryan Gosling originally after he did La la Land (granted I haven’t watched it). However, after the life experience that is the Barbie movie I do now. Margot Robbie as well reminds me that I am not gay, as much as Ryan Gosling tempts me. I believe there are many things in life that everybody should experience, such as first kisses, moving out, getting a job, falling in love even. The most most important life experience that I will lay out for the future generations is to watch the Barbara Movie. Thank you.

From the colour imagery to represent mood and character to the dialogue and music itself, this film is amazing in almost every way.
