Absolutely a ten out of ten. It immediately hooks you in from the very beginning of the movie and as a huge Batman fan the intro after the whole horror scene had me absolutely beaming for like 7 minutes straight
Robert Pattinson’s portrayal as Batman is perfection and he perfectly portrays that Bruce isn’t mentally recovered from his parents death and he still has that fear.
And make no mistake, this is a Batman who isn’t perfect, he makes mistakes, he gets injured. Every single hit in this movie has consequences, but what I love is that he gets up. He’s heavily injured and less than 12 hours later he’s up. This is the Batman we love, he’s human, he gets scared yet he pushes past that and faces the worst the world has to offer.
Silena steals the show every scene she’s in, so full of rage at the injustice, the abuse of power the heads of the city abuse on ppl like her. She’s amazing and confident and the parallels to Bruce are perfect
Their chemistry is absolutely amazing
Jim Gordon again steals the show in every scene he’s in, he commands a presence and there’s one scene particularly where he absolutely bellows something to a person he and Batman are interrogating and you feel shook. He leads his men amazingly and his partnership with Batman is ride or die.
Alfred is amazing. He’s a man who you could say is haunted by the fact he couldn’t protected Thomas and Martha Wayne from their death and Bruce from that pain. He feels guilty and he took in Bruce and taught him how to fight. He regrets that because he can see that Bruce is leading down the path he did.
The Riddler, oh god the Riddler. His opening scene is absolutely terrifying and straight out of a horror movie. The entire theater shook when he appeared out of nowhere and stalked someone. He’s very modern in his approach and thats what gets people on his side. Like a very deadly version of 4-Chan and all that stuff. His murders and clues are carefully concocted and even Batman falls prey to it. Spoilers for the movie, he’s too late to stop him.
The cinematography is absolutely stunning, the way used red lighting throughout the movie as a theme and used for character development was perfection. The ending shot of the Batmobile car chase had us cheering in the theaters. We had goosebumps. There’s multiple shots in the film where you’re just in awe over how beautiful it looks
The soundtrack is absolutely amazing. Michael Giachino did amazing(he did Incredibles, Up, No Way Home, and Rogue One) his Batman theme is powerful and booming. It helps make or break a scene. All of scores leave you with such anticipation, and others with such peace and despair.
Overall an amazing movie that has beautiful character development into the message of hope.
10/10 I will argue that it’s better than the Dark Knight
