I never finished a paper Mario game but I’ll try making this my first, old school fans may not enjoy it as a traditional Paper Mario game, but on its own merits, it’s a pretty good time, the presentation is drop dead gorgeous and never ceases to amaze me from one location to the other, the humor has a little something for everyone, while it’s pretty dark at, personally it can appeal to my sadistic side of humor, even then it manages to maintain a whimsical and lighthearted vibe. The battles may or may not be your cup of tea, while the concept is great sometimes the execution is poor, sometimes it’s very easy, and sometimes I was overwhelmed because of the cluttered enemy placements in areas, but for the most parr it was satisfying to play through, also don’t even try fleeing, it barely works. Summary: This is a great game, if you’re a Paper Mario Veteran willing to shake things up, I’d say give it a shot, 9/10.
