Haters gonna hate.
My kids (8 and 10) loved the movie, and as magic school bus lovers, we all kinda got the concept of the โStrange Worldโ right away. But that didnโt detract from the movie. It was still visually and conceptually cool and we had fun trying to guess the โpurposeโ of all the creatures.
My husband and I had quite a few laughs during a card playing scene. The grandpa, father, and son dynamic was very representative of the generational differences in our own families.
The story IS a bit messy, and I did feel like that about Encanto too. But itโs for kids and families so who cares? Why do adults need to dissect kid movies like we expect them all to be masterpieces? Again, my kids loved it. So it was worth it.
And ANYONE who hates on this movie for having a gay male character who simply smiles at his crush and nothing more needs to calm the eff down and just go live in a cave somewhere where they can be happy completely detached from reality. Wanna talk inappropriate? Ariel giving up her voice at 16 for some dude because she thinks he is hot is inappropriate. Belle falling in love with her captor is inappropriate. Those things should make you feel more uncomfortable. PG13 rating my a. There are gay kids out there who deserve to be represented. My kids squealed for the character just like they would a straight one. Let some compassion into your heart.
