Complete detailed spoiler alert!!! Warning !!!
I would never watch this movie again. The only reason I sat through it was because it was suggested.
The plot is ridiculous. 4 college white girls, who you never learn any background about besides Salena Gomez. Which is that she practices some sort of religion.
They are “struggling” so bad to have the spring break of their lives that they rob a local diner to be able to afford the trip.
They are shown also always naive and high energy. Dancing in the rain making out and doing drugs on each other type of thing.
No spring break trip would ever be so serious that small town suburban girls would ever be driven to rob a diner in order to go. They also rob the diner with a sludge hammer, masks, and a fake gun.
Such a small town ? No time after this scene is there any follow up on this incident. No police questioning or etc. The movie just moves right along to them having enough to go to spring break.
Scenes were way too long. The script was unbearably repetitive. Literally characters for 3 mins straight repeating the same conversation over and over. The entire movie is like this from start to bottom.
James Franco is completely culture appropriated. Wearing terrible corn roles and plays a “I’m the only one who made it out” gangsta type rapper. The girls get entangled with him. While he is a well known rapper supposedly. They begin sticking people up together yet they wear masks but he never does. Yet he is much more high profile and easier to locate.
Two of the girls leave. While two stay to continue to mischief.
Seeking revenge on a frenemy of Franco. The movie ends with Franco being shot in the head. And the girls running into a resort sweet in bikinis. No body armor... but masks on. Taking down a whole army of black guys protecting the premesis. They walk with no tact into the resort just them two and manage to kill all 10 or so guys who were in the resort area. Just until they reach Gucci mane who they shoot in the head.
The girls call their moms after this and tell them they are ready to get good grades in school now that spring break is over. And that they have learned the key to life is to be a good person - yet after killing and shooting and robbing people for two weeks straight the characters are never shown showing any remorse as if they actually were affected by the events to have this sort of epiphany.
The only time black people are shown in the movie is when they are being displayed as gangsters, or strippers who work in a strip club.
Disgusting. Terrible movie. Excessive repetice script. Long substance abuse and sex scenes.
No real moral at all of the movie. I HATE it.
For it to be directed by an “award winning” director. I found myself never wanting to watch anything else directed or written by the people behind this movie.
TERRIBLE MOVIE. A tragic waste of a perfectly decent Hollywood budget. Maybe next time.
