Sound of metal depicts the life of a metal drummer who struggles with his lost sense of hearing amidst financing his surgery cost and separation from his girlfriend. Riz Ahmed has brilliantly portrayed the life of Rubin in searching his identity after his physical disability. The film has one of the best ingredients as its sound design which runs through the waves of crest and trough from Rubin's sense of hearing even after he undergoes surgery and got a hearing implant.

Minari is another gem of Korean cinema weaved in a story which has profound cultural and family binding embedded in socio economic compulsion arises from US dream of better life popular in almost entire asian countries. A brilliant work of cinematography and direction along with great performance by all leading actors makes it a must watch for those who love sensitive cinema with a difference.

Promising young women presents a baffled revenge story line up in a meticulously frame to frame revelation. It takes you to a world of universally prevelent objectification of woman where they are just a commodity for men's sexual desire indifferent of societal status. A raped teenage killed herself because she found the system abstaining from taking action against the accused. Her best friend decides to unmask them and so she lives a different life by night and presents herself as an approachable piece of means to men in night clubs. She sacrifices her life for justice and friendship in the end.

Bacarau is a story of politics at its low which treacherously collaborates with foreign imperialistic ideology and threats survivability of a remotely living community. Amidst this is a series of brutality, bloodshed, and effort to hamper lifeline inevitable for human existence. The film from its first frame binds you in the images of rural Brazil where a native documentary film maker returns for her grandmother funeral and observes something misterious about their living.

Mank is a jewel in every sense whether its powerful performance by Gary Oldman or engraved realistically the bygone era of Hollywood. With almost every frame, presence of lead character Herman and his satirical persona steals the show with every line of dialogue he delivers. Apart from this, brilliant cinematography work set design and costumes ride through the golden age of Hollywood.

A puzzle in a maze looped in time with past, present and future can only be solved by closing the always existing time loop. This is typical king's style of telling a story with many possibilities. A great and innovative concept adapted from space time but crafted with a dose of supernaturalism and anthropologistic rituals. The movie is well directed with a pace of constant keenness towards the next frame and never loses its momentum. A must watch for horror lovers.
