I didn’t enjoy Violets Are Blue from the Alex Cross series. It felt like Alex was more focused on solving the case than taking care of his own family. The first intruder happened in the previous series when he, his grandmother and kids were brutally beaten inside their home. Why is his house always so vulnerable to intruders, especially in a rough neighborhood? Given how often he’s away and the number of enemies he has, you’d think he’d take better precautions to protect his kids and grandmother. On top of that, the whole vampire storyline felt exhausting. He’s a DC cop so why is he more focused on risky FBI cases?

I have to agree with the reviews. I couldn't get pass the 3rd episode because I am trying to figure out whether they were going to have sex. The character who played Emma was not likable. She comes across as rude, condescending, dry, with no personality, and boring. Her face never changes even when she is being playful. It’s deadpan. It has nothing to do with her color because they could have selected numerous other actors of her ethnicity ( probably more attractive). I didn't feel what Dexter saw in her. She was so aloof.

I enjoyed the series but it was a bit nerve wrecking esp the character Helen. She keeps putting herself in these situations which would cost her life simply because she’s needy, nosy and trying to be a goody two shoes. The hypocrisy is she dumps Ethan who was willing to change and he’s a doofus but wants a guy who’s has a checkered past and ultimately would come close to getting her killed several times. He’s an accountant for an international drug dealer, torturer, and apart of a ruthless Irish clan. Yeah, seems like a winner Helen. Toward the end of season 2 we still don’t know who this guy is and it seems she still can’t let his past go.

I usually like Baldacci books and the one’s in this series. However, this storyline was boring and unbelievable. It didn’t keep me spellbound. Sean King is more self righteous, obnoxious and poised as some super sleuth who just pull clues out of thin air. And Michelle Maxwell has way too much masculine energy. She’s always ready to fight even ppl twice her size and comes off rude and inappropriate esp when everyone else and her dad is grieving. Does she have an off bottom? Also, I understand these 2 past experiences but they freely move around in powerful circles as PI. In reality, someone would have made these 2 disappear esp world leaders. I couldn’t follow this story, too many side stories.
