Movie: Dorod Genre: Psychological Thriller Personal Rating: 8/10 ★★ NO SPOILER ★★ Falling for Shakib Khan, “Dorod” is among his best performances. A new discovery in Bangladeshi cinema "Dorod." Finally, I watched the highly anticipated movie "Dorod" today, and it has introduced a new dimension to Bangladeshi cinema. Psycho-thrillers like this are rare in Bangladesh, and "Dorod" brings something fresh: "CWS" (Celebrity Worship Syndrome) – an obsessive-addictive disorder involving an intense preoccupation with a celebrity. For the first time in Bangladeshi cinema, this genre has been explored, and it’s a resounding success as a Bangladeshi film. Those who enjoy psychological genres will particularly love "Dorod." However, you’ll have to stay until the end to fully understand the motive behind the story of "Dorod", and the director skillfully reveals all the motivations behind the character one by one. What I loved the most was our megastar Shakib Khan’s flawless, heartfelt acting. His performance and his expressive eyes – those who see this Shakib Khan will never question his acting again. His eyes alone seemed to act, making it impossible to look away. And in the final scene, Shakib Khan’s acting will bring tears to anyone’s eyes. This is the Shakib Khan we want to see again and again. Watching Sonal Chauhan and Shakib Khan together on screen, it didn’t feel like they’re from two different countries; their chemistry was amazing. Everyone will love this pairing. In short, both Shakib Khan and Sonal Chauhan delivered perfect performances on screen. Besides them, Rahul Dev, Payel Sarkar, Alok Jain, and Rajesh Sharma also performed wonderfully in this film. Although, I did expect a bit more from Payel Sarkar’s character. A new Bangladeshi girl, Safa Marwa, also starred in the film; she did well and looked glamorous. The film's setting is mainly around Banaras in India. The cinematography and screen visuals throughout were enjoyable, with camera work and color grading that were easy on the eyes. However, the director could have explored the locations in more depth. The background music in this film was excellent, with each scene’s music enhancing the depth of the story. The best part was when Shakib Khan walked in the final scene with that music playing. The movie includes three songs, and I particularly loved the last one. Additionally, the song sung by Balam was also impressive, and parts of his song were used as background music in some scenes, which I really liked. If I had to point out any flaws in the film, there are some technical aspects, but I can overlook them. For the first time, a psychological theme (CWS) has been depicted in Bangladeshi cinema, bringing something fresh and valuable to our industry. It’s worth watching this Bangladeshi film at least once. As a Bangladeshi film, I found it to be top-notch. Shakib Khan will make your money well spent, and you’ll leave having experienced a refreshing new take on Bangladeshi cinema that you’ll really enjoy...

After saving the life of the Chief Minister from a terrorist attack, he receives praises and gets awarded with newer responsibilities. Crime reporter Diya (Subhasree) gets the task of interviewing Rajib Chowdhury and after much effort finally gets the opportunity to meet him. Once they meet, they realize Rajib is the 'Nabab' that studied with Diya back in college. Even though they liked each other back then, due to circumstances their relationship didn't work out. They rekindle their love but soon after 'Nabab' gets tied up in a conspiracy and blackmailed into killing the Chief Minister. REVIEW: Nabab is a film that reinvents Shakib Khan in a completely new avatar. His look in the film is quite different from all the other films he has done till now, which stays mesmerizing nonetheless. This goes to show how much of a difference good costume designers and stylists can make. Shakib Khan has tried his best to deliver a good performance, but some slight mishaps might have prevented that. He still needs to work on the delivery of the dialogues. Other than that, his acting wasn't at all bad. Subhasree looked glamorous but she still needs to work on her acting skills a bit more. Although she looked the part, she didn't really play the part too well. Overall, the film isn't bad but viewers will find a lot of similarities with Shahrukh Khan's Baadshah. For those unfamiliar with Shakib Khan, this movie serves as a fantastic introduction to his talent, as he delivers a relatable and impressive performance. However, it's Mimi Chakraborty who steals the show with her mind-blowing acting skills, elevating her character to new heights. The supporting cast, including Chanchal Chowdhury and Shahiduzzaman Selim, also deliver commendable performances, adding depth to the narrative. While some elements may seem familiar, the underlying story remains unique and fresh. If you're craving an action-packed thriller, "Toofan" is an absolute must-watch. It's a testament to Shakib Khan's versatility and Raihan Rafi's directorial prowess, leaving a lasting impression on viewers.

On the other hand, a cinema enthusiast dreams of becoming a great hero (actor), taking on various roles in films. Both face numerous challenges and obstacles to make their dreams a reality, and they have to confront these difficulties head-on. In the end, whether they succeed in realizing their dreams or end up on a path to oblivion can only be determined by watching the complete film. Casting Shakib Khan is the soul of cinema. He has done many good and bad films in his career. However, he has poured his heart into this movie. His acting performance, excellent dialogue delivery, and outstanding eye expressions were remarkable. Since he has become a star, his fans enjoy watching such commercial films from him. I hope he continues to stay dedicated to this genre of movies. Mimi Chakraborty and Nabila Rahman performed well during their screen time. Chanchal Chowdhury, from the moment he appears on screen, elevates the movie to a unique level. His humorous dialogues and impeccable acting force the audience to laugh. Gazi Rakayet, Fazlur Rahman Babu, Misha Sawdagor, Shahiduzzaman Selim, and Rajat Ganguly were all good in their respective roles. Especially, Gazi Rakayet's screen play was outstanding. The movie's locations, set design, cinematography, and color grading were all superb. Moreover, the background music was appropriate, and the soundtrack composition was, in a word, fantastic. Toofan's costume design was inspired by other movies. However, the costumes suited the character well. Nothing seemed overrated.

I like the way the director directed this story with quality screenplay. Shakib Khan : There's nothing new to say about Shakib Khan. He once again proves his acting prowess in this movie. Shakib Khan is proving his acting skills by breaking himself in different characters, which is really incredible! From start to finish, he has delivered an engaging performance, showcasing versatility. Courtney Coffey : Expectations were not so high from her, but she has exceeded them very well. Her acting was more than decent. She has portrayed her character well, and her chemistry with Shakib Khan is remarkable. Others have also performed commendably, especially Mahiya Mahi. She has portrayed Shakib Khan's mother's character exceptionally well. Portraying the character of a senior artist's mother to a junior artist is truly remarkable. Technical aspects: The cinematography is excellent, with great colorgrading and visual effects. The action scenes are well executed, adding to the overall appeal of the movie. The songs are good and placed appropriately in the narrative. The visual effects are well-timed and well-executed. Rating: 8.5/10 ⭐ A Very High Class work from Himel Ashraf. Happy Watching...!!!
