Battlefield V is the last classic Battlefield. The gameplay is balanced and it largely avoids attempts to model the paradigms of its time, unlike Battlefield 2042, which is evidently inspired by popular contemporaries such as CSGO and Valorant in the fast-paced gameplay involving specialists, abilities, and forced conflict at closer ranges. This is crucial to the gameplay and genera l feeling of the game, while 2042 seems like a knockoff and a product of a corporation needing to create a new game, Battlefield V retains the "Battlefield Vibe," which, to clarify for the uninitiated, is a style of gameplay whereby chaos is inevitable, and you truly feel immersed in the constant explosions, enemy pushes, and last-second stands. Battlefield V seems to encapsulate the Battlefield culture in such a way that it holistically represents this franchise, and it saddens me to see this final true Battlefield decline in popularity.
