Congratulations to the BBC and Jimmy McGovern for this excellent drama. The acting was superb and it conveyed a horrifying picture of prison life and the hard choices that have to be made by inmates and officers. I was particularly struck by the portrayal of the prison chaplain. She was sensitive, compassionate, honest and available, clearly doing a brilliant job. It’s rare to find a positive portrayal of any Christian minister in the media these days so thank you. I was also pleased that the topic of forgiveness was raieed, something sadly lacking in current society’s thinking.
