I don't have anything against modernizing period dramas. I've loved adaptations that were not period accurate (such as the new Emma) in the past. But sometimes, the inconsistently modern language borders on ridiculous. The use of buzzwords was particularly dissatisfying. Captain Wentworth is very awkward and blustery, without much character. Anne is also extremely awkward, which is a take I disagree with since what I loved about Anne was her consistent poise in the face of mistreatment by her family. I love Henry Goulding, basically always, but I think the best character in this movie was definitely Sir Elliot, who was the only accurately written character, and who was well portrayed.
