Richard Burton and Clint Eastwood parachute behind enemy lines disguised as bored Hollywood actors disguised, in turn, as unconvincing Nazis, efficiently dispatching scores of ludicrously inept "real" Nazis in this flaccidly paced, overlong and confused paean to heavy explosives and machine guns. Burton's gifts are wasted here, of course, while Eastwood's repertoire of a single expression achieves its fullest flower, never to be surpassed.
