I want to preface by saying that Beautiful Disaster is my all time favorite book, so I knew it would probably not live up to my standards, but oh my.... When I initially saw the trailer I was happily surprised to see Dylan Sprouse as Travis, but I knew that's where the happiness would stop.
The movie is SUCH an injustice to the book. I 100% understand that movies can't convey the entirety of a book - it would be like 3 hours long lol - but there is SO much missing from this movie that's it's disgraceful. The plot (or lack of plot) moves at lightning speed (30 minutes in and Abby is meeting Travis' family), MAJOR points are missing (Anything about Travis and Abby's friendship turned romance - they just wake up one day and love each other, Not a smidgen of detail about Parker - he's on screen for a collective 10 minutes, the frat parties, the fight FIRE which is extremely important to the book as a whole and the other books after and don't even get me started on the Vegas mess). Abby and America's actors specifically were a let down - I'm sure they're great actors, but for this it was a flop. Everything was so rushed and didn't make any sense. I so wish they would have taken more time to match the book; even just a little bit. It's just a sad mess :(
