The film "Avatar" teaches us about the negative implications of destroying nature for our own betterment. In the film, the commander in chief has no sympathy or understanding of the Na'vi people and their sacred trees due to him being blinded by money and greed. This is contrasted by Jake, who, upon learning the ways of the Na'vi, develops a strong connection with nature and opposes the destruction of their sacred homeland. In essence, Avatar is an ecocritical film, warning viewers that greed for money can often blind us from understanding other viewpoints.
