An almost humorous movie due to the outrageous concept of cities on wheels gobbling up lesser mobile cities for no good reason. Trouble suspending my disbelief. A fantasy dystopia, a world without reason - is it possible it could look like this? I think not even in a most stretched-out version of one's imagination. In chuckling at the film I was able to bear with its absurdities.

Intriguing plot lines weaving past, present, & future into non-linear intersections where detectives are investigating an identical murder victim in different eras. As it proceeds, relationships intertwine & what emerges is a kind of kinky contradictory indication that a group of people who repeat the line "You are loved" seemingly manipulating time lines almost deliberately. Fascinating but at times confusing. Somehow, worth watching. We, too, want to discover "what's going on here". Kept me interested because the usual tropes in SciFi narratives are absent in the blending of the time lines.

Rachel Weisz delivers a tone, a subtlety in her developed character that captures the attention but one must listen carefully for her contradictions and the undertow of her denials. She knows what she's doing but wants to suspend your disbelief in slippery disguises. She is pretending all the time.
