This book is based on fact but declared to be fiction. In all the Auschwitz narratives I have read for 60 years I have never seen a reference to a special bus being used for gassing behind the Birkenau Admin building. One piece describes Hoess eating his solitary evening meal - he lived on site with his family. What I found strange was the lack of tension in the camp description and when the gypsy camp was eliminated, the SS knew Lale was not included.
A very readable book about Lale's life in the Camp and thereafter.
