If you had never read the book, this would be an interesting show, with excellent acting. However, if you had read the book, this bears only the slightest relationship with it: the characters names and a few snippets of the plot. The TV series has nothing of the deep, crazy imagination of the book, nor it’s profound use of stoic philosophy. Nothing of the self searching that lead to changes in the main characters’ personalities. For a bit of mindless entertainment, watch the series. For a moving, funny, thought provoking experience, read the book.
