After hearing about another YA film, I was like a bit excited by the fact that this genre was making some comeback. But after hearing bad reviews about it, I thought I need to watch this and... I think it's good. Not great but is a decent entry to the YA genre. As it tackles this body shaming social issue with teens in that they need to look like models from magazines and how you need to look in a certain way to feel accepted. However, I didn't like the story because I'm not invested in these social issues (I'm more like the people who don't live in the big city) and I agree with some people that there were too many generic plotlines like the big baddie or wanting a control society by targeting the youth. But, these were needed to make it a YA dystopia film, just like Hunger Games, Maze Runner and Divergent. Overall, I always say this to people, you need to watch it and make your opinion about. Do not rely on other's opinions, regardless whether they are right or wrong. I felt this film was good enough to watch and indeed have a new idea since many films are like the same, this felt genuine. Despite it being like the many other YA films with its baddie and teen romances, this was a good watch and if there is a sequel, I will watch that as I believe the sequel: Pretties would be better since we should get into the action or the climax of the main plot by experiencing the other side of this society. But, people seriously need to be more open-minded and just not make comparisons or only watch to find things that are bad or wrong about it rather than just watching and enjoying it. My opinion, don't expect people to agree with me but, I'm just saying. Give this film a chance and make your own minds.

I give this 4* so that everyone who gave 1 or 2 stars don't hate me but I found it very enjoyable, but that is because I did not know whom Madame Webb was comic wise and this story is like with every other movie that introduces a Superhero. I love how everyone is so fixated on Infinity War and Endgame that Marvel and Sony should keep that high standard, that they truly forget that every superhero needs a introductory movie regardless if it is bad or good. I hated Iron Man 1, Captain Ameria 1 and Thor 1 but everyone loves it, so am I the bad guy here? The answer is no. Anyway, back to Madame Webb, for me it was a average superhero and yeah, some parts could be explained better or made better but, this was enjoyable. I spent the first 30 mins of the movie thinking if the villian was the live action version of Miguel from Into The Spiderverse film which could lead to Miles Morales and eventually Peter Parker. Clearly he wasn't, but I was open minded. I advise everyone to forget about other Marvel films and lower expectations and be more open-minded as everyone would enjoy and be more appreciative that more and new superheroes are being introduced into the MCU or in an live action film as we will never get the highly anticipated Secret Wars or The Kang Dynasty if everyone is hating Phrase 5 when it is very much the same as Phrase 1: Introduces new heroes for the big battle at the end of the saga, and it has to be bad or boring at first just to get past the whole backstory and get into the action. Many people will hate or get more confused if a random new character joins and ends up being very important at the end and no one know who that is, all because everyone cancelled their backstory as they don't want to see it on film. Example, this movie: Madame Webb. Summary, forget about everything, be open minded and you will enjoy it.
