It’s a quite negative view of gen Z and she constantly blames smartphones because she admittedly cant find an alternative explanation to this generation’s problems. She minimizes that the teens of the 90’s had higher suicide rates and also that todays kids are much more aware of mental health and comfortable admitting their own emotional challenges whereas these were taboo subjects in previous generation’s and not easily or openly admitted if asked.
There is little acknowledgement of the parents who are the ones actually raising this generation and thus quite literally the cause. I wonder if she and her generation (which is mine too) are skirting responsibility for their parenting mistakes.
It is provocative but has some reminiscence of the satanic moral panic of the 80’s.
