The story of Turning Red had me laughing aloud at times, and in tears at others. The story involves a 13 year old girl in a very uncommon coming of age story, where both the devoted love of family and the joy of living life itself conflict in young Meilin "Mei" Lee. The story is very entertaining on its own, and is also quite relatable to anyone who grew up in a culture where hard work, extraordinary achievement and family respect are all important. I highly recommend this film.

Beautifully brought to film by Steven Spielberg. I saw this movie in 1987 and remember it fondly. Truly a story about a boy who grows up way too soon. Excellent soundtrack as well. Overall a wonderful movie.
