The weakest of the trilogy. The "surprise" ending which is certainly hinted at throughout - basically ruined the film - "House of the Devil meets Lifetime Movie Network." Otherwise, the film is a decent Hollywood '80s period piece that is flashy and fast-paced, and certainly watchable. The same end plot would and could have fit with different pacing and writing. The villain was not the greatest casting choice, and those approximate 13 minutes felt comparatively sloppy and out of place. Definitely more of a thriller than a horror. Anyone hoping for a near-Oscar caliber performance from Goth will be disappointed. She was great as Maxine, but it clearly wasn't written for her to "outdo" her Pearl performance.
