First of all, this book has become one of my favourites with characters that are hard not to fall in love with and an amazing story line. Although I did really want a film to represent what the story meant to, and to showcase the great potential the novel had for cinema, I was really disappointed with the outcome. I felt they missed out vital scenes, and focused more on Violets story. We didn’t get to see anything about Finch’s father, and his struggles with mental health were barely touched upon. For those who have not read the book, I am sure it’s a good movie, but personally I found it unsatisfying and not the beautiful story it was supposed to be. I would much like to see another try at this film but by a different crew (not Netflix) who can bring the beauty this book has to life as it so rightfully deserves
