Rothstein’s research has incredible depth and relevance. His calm, rational, and explicit voice presents a powerful breakdown of how our laws discriminated, quite simply, against African Americans in their pursuit for the most vital element of the American Dream - land/home ownership. While politics is inextricable from history, this book is historical, not political. The focus is on laws that built this country, that we collectively prosper and suffer from; and the economic impact of those laws. I strongly recommend The Color of Law, especially to anybody interested in 2020 candidates’ housing and wealth gap policies.
