A thoroughly bleak, frankly depressing psychological horror. Pitting a cynical detective against the impossible prospect that the Gemini serial killer has somehow resurrected and is back to his old games. George C Scott is brilliantly cast as is Brad as the patient locked away in a dark corner of a hospital that no one should ever get ill in. This film is quality old school. Very little gore. Wonderful slow performances with an expertly constructed script. You need to listen and pay full attention. If you do, you will be rewarded by THE finest jump scare moment in history. A disturbing horror that will stay with you in those early hours of the dark when you should be sound asleep. Demonic possession has never been handled in this masterful way.

A rare film that produces a different emotional response depending on your age and position on the winding river that is life. On release, I first saw this film as a student in an arty cinema in Birmingham. It had all the kudos of an indulgent drink and drug fuelled epic. It endorsed the student life style and gave way to the amusing and now iconic quotes. Now in my 50s with children a reasonable home and more unreasonable debt, it simply makes me sad. The saddest thing is that I really don't know why. Nostalgia? A yearning to be reckless and irresponsible again. I really can't figure this out. Anyway, I love it for many reasons. The simple story, the brilliant soundtrack, the faultless performances. It will stick in your memory, add a new facet to the those classic songs you love. It will give you a snapshot of life in Camden as a struggling actor during times now long gone. Enjoy it. I can't think of any other film that has this effect. Watch again in years to come and see if I was right.

A much more satisfying film than the 2017 version. At four hours long this could easily have been two movies. The new lead characters get a fuller back story. The story itself is less humour filled and much darker. You do not get the sense of dread that Thanos successfully instilled but nevertheless this is an epic film at least on par with Endgame. I was surprised and Impressed. I expected a badly edited set of cutting room floor scenes but instead thoroughly enjoyed four hours of escapism. It made me forget about this pandemic and realise that there is life beyond lockdown and vaccination. That in itself must be admired. The more detailed story sets up so many new story veins that will possibly never be tapped. It is sad that we will not see Deathsroke get his chance against the Bat nevermind the Bat teaming up with Joker!?. I wholeheartedly recommend this movie. For all those folk that enjoy the genre, there is little not to like. It works as a standalone epic and also gives a tantalising glimpse at what may have come to pass. This is the one silver lining that Covid has given us. I hope Mr Synder will return. Watch it just to see Superman don the extremely cool black cape.
