Had high expectations for this movie as a huge fan of sci-fi movies but it fell short from an odd cast of the main lead and gaps in the narrative. Sorry, but he did not fit the role and it was a visually unconvincing match for Gemma. I am a fan of Gemma Chan since the show Humans but this movie did not utilize her presence enough 5% appearance beginning and end.
The action scenes were subpar as there wasn't enough character build on the main lead other than his obsession of finding Gemma. This could have easily been made into a trilogy but the movie was cut short. The movie was 80% build up then 20% conclusion action scenes. It felt like a Japanese anime made into a movie much like Ghost in the Shell (horrific rendition). The best part of this movie was the weapon capabilities using AI tech from suicide bombers to space station that dominates the entire planet. A grim glimpse of the future of weapon technology.
Was it entertaining? Mostly yes, but there are quite a few unnecessary scenes which pumped the brakes on story progression and story gaps with missing details. It just leaves you with questions until the next chapter title shows up almost like watching Black Mirror series. Would I recommend to watch it at the IMAX? No, this is a movie one can watch at home if there's nothing else to watch.
