first of all, it's full of love, passion, and dream from the project's team. Oda the author is fully involved with almost every part of the project, the core spirit of the story is there. This is a very hard IP to adapt to the live action there are countless ways they can mess it up but they tried their best and I think this is a very good quality adaptation that can give people a good taste and introduction to the manga/anime series. of course the manga/anime is "better" with fuller context, side characters and stories, but with the limited amount of episodes and time they've got I would say this is one of the best anime adaptions.
The biggest complain I have is they need longer and more episodes, in order to include more side stories and characters that really add depth into the story. some parts i felt a little lacking is the lack of story / involvement of the villagers at the town where buggy invaded, not having the chocho part took away quite some amount of emotions and luffy's characteristic on his style of making decision on when and who he would help. another one is sanji's farewell to zeff needs to take longer to build up the emotions. some part of me wish they have less time of Garp, but may be they were doing it with a mindset of just able to make one season??
Anyway, besides those this is really a project of love, I did have moments that I tear up, laugh, smile, etc. I really hope they get more seasons with longer and more episodes, those emotional and big moments do need more time to set up and build up....
