I saw this around 15 years of age when it came out. My kid brain was obsessed with the girls clothing and wanting to emulate that. Had a big crush on Markie Mark and thought he was so cute lol. I think I wanted to be Reece with her perfect hair, perfect body and perfect life. Now being 42, it’s amazing how the brain changes. While some of the things I mentioned above bring a sense of sentimental memory, this kind of movie wouldn’t fly these days. The fact that an adult is ‘dating’ a minor, the queasy nature of Margo’s character and such a focus on Nicole’s purity…icky. Perhaps I’ll come back to this in in another 15-20 years lol One thing I still really like about the movie is the house, location, and of course the sound track!

If you’d like a leftist version of the Daily Wires Lady Baller, just watch this. Granted the story isn’t the same but the sub-context on politically fueled rhetoric is prevalent. It’s unfortunate as it ironically serves to contribute to what the false tropes of white people bad and black people are victims bs. There are two things which are good about this movie. The soundtrack is great at generating a sense of movement and urgency. I’d listen to it on its own. There was good acting but it was overshadowed by the rhetoric and a wild medical issue that happens to the son (it’s odd and feels like a fever dream) If you want a good end of world movie, check out Don’t Look Up with Leonardo Decaprio, it still has political rhetoric but it’s peppered in the movie and it focused more on humanity.
