I rewatched this movie many years after first seeing it and it was disappointing. Excellent actors here, however Willem Defoe and Gene Hackman are lacking in on screen chemistry.In their defense they were given a contrived albeit evocative and poignant script . The story is told in a typical Hollywood over the top style . I was moved to tears when reminded of the struggle of African Americans during the Civil Rights movement of the 1960s

Most of the reviews are positive but seriously I can't .I just can't, it's contrived and so far fetched. They are yucking it up while shooting it out with the bad guys ...ridiculous The actors are too talented to be involved in this garbage What's disturbing to me is how many positive reviews this show is getting
