This is a very well researched and written account of Levon Helm from the very beginning and through The Band years to his solo work.
I spent time in 1976 working as a roadie with the band during the last tour (“Northern Lights & Southern Cross” album) and the “Last Waltz” afterwards spent time with Levon in Woodstock. Sandra Tooze does a remarkable job giving the reader a sense of who Levon was. Sorry I couldn’t have shared some of my wild times with Levon for this book. Dan Dugan, Santa Barbara, CA.
