The comparison of Midnight Mass to The Haunting of Hill House ("Hill House") amounts to an insult for the public audience. While Midnight Mass has some excellent acting (Kate Siegel as Erin Green; Hamish Linklater as Monsignor/Father Paul; Rahul Kohli as the Sheriff and Samantha Sloyan as "Bev") the level of writing/plot is not on the same planet as Hill House. In Midnight Mass the monsters are vampires? And the head vampire who is ugly as sin is supposed to be mistaken for an angel? I could go on. It's weak writing trying to and succeeding in getting an audience because of the success of a previous, unrelated and much better film. This is thanks to the media hype (promoting gore and harm to children and animals, no less). Midnight Mass was entertaining, but without the stellar acting it would be a no watch.
