I liked that you brought up the topic of the taking down of monuments. However, much of what was done in the south was a result of the Federal troops being taken out after the Civil War to resolve the presidential election crisis. The Confederate Monuments were a result of the Jim Crow laws and attitudes which disenfranchised Black People making them 2nd class citizens at best. In fact, Thomas Jefferson had written in the Declaration of Independence that Slavery should be abolished but 2 southern states would not go along so he scrubbed it.. What is happening now is a long overdue correction to rights lost after the civil war. By the way, I would love to see someone talk about the true history of the Statue of Liberty which was donated by the French Anti-Slavery Society and was originally a Black Woman. The original is in a museum in New York.
